New attraction on Singapore’s Sentosa Island to open on 15th December
November 11, 2021

Mount Faber Leisure Group’s highly anticipated new attraction, SkyHelix Sentosa, will open ahead of schedule on 15th December 2021, in time for Singapore’s school holidays and year-end celebrations.

Just a short stroll from the Singapore Cable Car’s Sentosa station, SkyHelix Sentosa is a gondola ride that reveals stunning views as it gently rotates 35 metres above ground along a vertical helix-like structure.

Guests will enjoy unparalleled 360° sights of Sentosa and the developing Greater Southern Waterfront as they reach a height of 79 metres above sea level, making it one of the highest vantage points on Sentosa.

Singapore’s highest open-air panoramic ride and the first carbon-neutral attraction on Sentosa Island, SkyHelix Sentosa is located within the collection of attractions at Imbiah Lookout.

Explaining that SkyHelix Sentosa will be a new landmark within Singapore’s evolving tourism landscape, Buhdy Bok, Managing Director of the Mount Faber Leisure Group, advised at a preview event today “as Singapore eyes a long-term goal recovery of its tourism sector, the opening of SkyHelix Sentosa signals a strong message of hope and optimism for the industry and the country.

“We believe that the panoramic views experienced on SkyHelix Sentosa will uplift and inspire diverse audiences across all age groups.”

Thien Kwee Eng, Chief Executive of Sentosa Development Corporation, added “SkyHelix Sentosa will be an important milestone as we emerge stronger and better from the pandemic. It illustrates how the Sentosa community has come together to push ahead into the future, despite the challenges of the past year.

“SkyHelix Sentosa will join a diverse pipeline of new and upcoming Sentosa experiences, including wellness experiences at Oasia Resort Sentosa, an innovative perfumery experience at Scentopia, as well as the island’s new lifestyle destination, Southside, among various other exciting highlights. We look forward to welcoming more guests to Sentosa, as we bolster our position as Asia’s leading leisure destination.”

For each ‘flight’, guests will be seated in an open-air gondola for a 12-minute ride, which includes 10 minutes at the peak, during which the gondola will slowly rotate. During the ascent, rotation and descent, guests can enjoy a cool beverage exclusively created for SkyHelix Sentosa by the team behind the acclaimed cocktails at Dusk Restaurant & Bar located at Mount Faber Peak.

The attraction will also offer unique ready-to-drink cocktails available for purchase at the open-air snack bar. Guests experience all of this while enjoying the sensation of flying with the wind in their hair and capturing picture-perfect moments on camera.

From morning to night, the attraction offers guests different views of Sentosa, promising a new experience with each ride and transforms from day to night.

After sundown, energy-efficient LED lights illuminate the attraction, making it a beacon of light on Sentosa and a stunning new addition to the Singapore skyline.

Tickets for SkyHelix Sentosa are priced at $18 for adults and $15 for children between the ages of four and 12.

Safety and sustainability
The SkyHelix Sentosa structure is designed and constructed by French company Aerophile, a leading expert on high-point attractions.

The gondola is completely powered by three electrical winches that are managed on-ground. Safety measures in place include an electronic safety mechanism to ensure guests are properly secured, emergency brakes, and power supply systems. Guests must meet a minimum height requirement of 1.05 metres to enjoy the ride.

As an added safety measure, an attraction host will accompany guests on the ride to ensure safety protocols are followed, while introducing the surrounding views and key landmarks as the gondola gently ascends.

SkyHelix Sentosa’s energy-efficient design utilises minimal electricity for its operations.
