January 7, 2020

The world’s tallest indoor climbing wall and widest skydiving flight chamber have opened on Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island.

Developed by Miral, CLYMB™ Abu Dhabi features the world's tallest indoor climbing wall, reaching 43 metres in height, as part of five climbing walls with varying degrees of height and difficulty, suitable for both beginners and experts alike.

The US$100 million attraction also offers the world's largest indoor skydiving flight chamber spanning 10 metres wide and 32 metres high.

Introducing the attraction, a spokesperson advised “CLYMB Abu Dhabi is designed to present unique sporting challenges to active lifestyle enthusiasts from around the world and enhances the emirate’s position as a global tourism destination, with world-class attractions for all travellers."

Originally scheduled to open early last year, construction was delayed after a fire at the site.

Now fully operational, the air-conditioned attraction is connected to other Yas Island attractions, Yas Mall and Ferrari World.

Commenting on the significance of the attraction, Miral Chairman, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak stated “this is yet another milestone for us as we continue to elevate Yas Island's position as a leading global destination for entertainment, leisure and business. CLYMB Abu Dhabi is a one of a kind sports attraction, which is designed to become the ultimate hub for adventure, offering something completely unique, challenging and unforgettable for active lifestyle enthusiasts from around the world."

The opening event witnessed a thrilling entertainment showcase by professional international skydiving and rock climbing athletes. These included Red Bull athletes and gold medallists, Kyra Poh (Singapore) and Maja Kuczyńska (Poland), record-breaking skydiver, Red Bull Stratos hero, and BASE jumper, Felix Baumgartner. Additionally, Red Bull climbing athlete and professional rock-climbing champion, Sasha DiGiulian (USA) laid the first climbing chalk on the world's tallest indoor climbing wall.

Indoor climbing is a popular attraction in the United Arab Emirates with other facilities including Mountain Extreme Dubai at Capital Golden Tower, Business Bay; Dorrell Sports Climbing Centre, DWTC Apartments, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai; and Adventure HQ at Yas Mall.
