World Leisure looks to China
World Leisure, the global advocacy body for the industry, is to stage two major events in China over the coming year.
The 4th World Leisure Expo and Forum is being held from 18th to 20th October 2019, in the Chinese city of Hangzhou and is being guided by Zhejiang Provincial People’s Government, hosted by Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government and World Leisure, and organised by the Hangzhou Bureau of Commerce and Hangzhou Commerce and Tourism Group.
With a theme ‘Leisure City, Better Life’, the event will include four parallel forums exploring the topics of: Leisure and Rural Revitalisation; Leisure and Sports; Leisure and the integration of Culture and Tourism, and Leisure and Industry Transformation.
World Leisure Chief Operating Officer, Dr Cristina Ortega and Events and Communications Coordinator, Mireia Iglesias, recently met with the World Leisure Expo Office in Hangzhou to discuss event cooperation and the high-level speakers to take part in the Expo and the Forum.
Iglesias explained that speakers will come “from the academic sphere (along with) representatives of cities developing ground-breaking approaches to leisure and making innovative leisure policies.”
Hangzhou, which will also host the 2022 Asian Games, is the capital and most populous city of the Zhejiang Province in eastern China.
Next year, China will also host the World Leisure Congress 2020, being held in Pinggu-Beijing from 17th to 23rd October.
A call for abstracts for the Congress is now open, with the first deadline for submissions falling on 31st October 2019.
