Thanyapura Health and Sports Resort wins two International Awards
Thailand’s Thanyapura Health and Sports Resort has recently won two international awards for its involvement in the development of sports in Asia and its leading sports resort concept.
The Resort was presented the Bronze Award from SPIA Asia – Sports Industry Awards & Conference 2016 in the category ‘Best Hospitality, Recreation or Leisure Offering in Sports of the Year’.
The conference, held in Bangkok, received 208 entries from 17 countries for the 19 awards categories and 350 guests gathered at the event to celebrate alongside the winners.
The event, The Business of Sports – Asia’s Sports Industry in the Fastlane, was endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, the Sports Authority of Thailand, and the Tourism Authority of Thailand. It aimed to facilitate the collaboration and help drive best practices across the Asian sports industry and to recognize and celebrate the achievements of the sporting industry in the region.
The two-day event took place at the Ballroom of Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Centre and welcomed 250 sport industry professionals from across Asia.
On 15th October, Thanyapura was named Asia's Leading Sports Resort at the 23rd Annual World Travel Awards Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony 2016 following the vote by a large number of travel and tourism professionals worldwide.
Held in Danang, Vietnam, the World Travel Awards are widely known as the most prestigious and comprehensive award in the tourism industry which “serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.”
Welcoming the Awards, Philipp Graf von Hardenberg, Thanyapura Health and Sports Resort’s President and Chief Executive, stated “this is a great honour and the ultimate validation of the industry-leading health and fitness model we've established.
"We set very high standards every day and receiving this second World Travel Award makes us very proud. We truly appreciate that our commitment to our guests, athletes and patients is recognised.

Thanyapura was also named Asia’s leading sports resort at the 2015 World Travel Awards.
