Swimming Australia celebrates first year of iSwim
April 20, 2020

Swimming Australia is celebrating the first year of its free training app, iSwim, and has thanked the swimming community for their support.

The iSwim app is aimed at all ages, all abilities and has no barriers for participation. The iSwim app is designed for both pool and open water swimmers. iSwim appeals to the recreational swimmer with a keen interest in fitness, stroke correction and building speed and endurance. It is designed to help with motivation and inspiration.

During its first year iSwim has achieved many milestones including 20,000 iSwim downloads; 20,000 articles read; iSwim livestream – allowed Swimming Australia’s swim tribe to watch the 2019 World Swimming Championships live and free in Gwangju; iSwim live sessions and lifetime swim stats.

With Australian recreational swimmers spending more than 10.6 billion minutes in the water each year, their ability to track that time and engage with other like-minded people is aided with iSwim.

iSwim allows users to log their swims and track their weekly statistics including, distance, heart rate, calories burned and time in the water while also keeping up to date on the latest swimming news content.

With the capability of integrating the app to Apple, Fitbit and Garmin smart watches, users can simply synchronise directly to their dashboards to track their fitness goals.

The swim plans, which are one of the main features and content pieces, are perfect for planning swim sessions.

A host of sets have been published in iSwim over the last year from Australian Dolphins, elite triathletes, ironmen/women and tips and tricks from Effortless Swimming as well as ‘Reidy’ from Bondi lifeguards.

The iSwim app has the current capabilities:

  • Log a swim
  • Track your swimming - see your stats dashboard including distance, heart rate, calories burnt, time and swim sessions
  • Manually create your own swim session
  • Sync with your smartwatch (fitbit, apple and Garmin currently compatible)
  • Swimming tips, news and events
  • Participate in challenges
  • Training programs by the swimming experts including members of the Australian Dolphins Swim Team, Surf Champions and Bondi Lifeguards
  • Video skills and drills from the experts to improve your stroke efficiency
  • Connect with your friends and create a virtual swim tribe
