The Chinese city of Laixi is ready to host the Second World Leisure Games and the World Leisure Congress from 12th to 21st September.

Held every five years, the Games are sponsored by the World Leisure Organisation with the aim of promoting world-level leisure activities.

With the theme ‘In Leisure, In Nature’ aiming to highlight leisure sports, modern lifestyle and the humanistic features of a leisure life and an eco-homeland, the Games will include 17 competition events.

Nine international events will include rock climbing, free-style roller skating, street dance, e-sports, marathon, dragon boat racing, international chess, martial arts and beach volleyball while eight domestic events will feature equestrian, cycling, fishing, beach football, Chinese chess, Qingdao Gouji (a popular local poker game), aerobics dance and swimming in Qingdao’s Jiaozhou Bay.

The Games will also coincide with the World Leisure Summit being held at the Laixi Huaxi Hotel on 12th and 13th September.

The summit aims at giving an interactive platform for researchers of world leisure sports, tourism management experts and tourist practitioners to exchange views on leisure, sport and tourism development trends.

Linked to the Summit, the World Leisure Products Expo will be held in the People’s Square of Laixi from 11th to 15th September and is expected to feature more than 600 leisure products from Chinese and overseas enterprises.

The Expo is also expected to attract over 2,000 industry purchasers.

Laixi will also be presenting the Leisure Culture and Arts Festival from 11th to 21st September, which will feature cultural displays, performances from a range of cultural organisations and related exhibitions and displays
