Popularity of virtual and hybrid events sees Eventbrite partner with Vimeo and launch new Zoom App
August 14, 2020

Eventbrite has announced a partnership with Vimeo to deliver Vimeo’s livestream and on-demand capabilities while also announcing the introduction of a new Zoom app into their Eventbrite App Marketplace.

Eventbrite have highlighted that while the COVID-19 pandemic has prevented us from attending as many events in person as we used to, virtual and hybrid events have increased in popularity.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, creators on Eventbrite have adapted their events and developed online experiences people can enjoy while social distancing, turning Eventbrite into one of the go-to platforms for virtual experiences.

Now five months into the COVID-19 global pandemic, Eventbrite share that our innate desire for human connection remains strong and the future of events is hybrid. According to a recent study they commissioned by PSB Research, 57% of respondents are open to continuing to attend virtual events even after social distancing restrictions have been lifted.

Consumers are showing a need for human connection and an appetite for virtual as well with paid ticket volume for online events on Eventbrite increasing 30-fold from the second quarter of 2019 and a recent survey conducted among 1,000 Eventbrite users finding that:

  • 62% of respondents have attended five or more online events in a recent month
  • 42% paid between $11-$30 to attend their virtual events
  • Nearly half have invited others to join them virtually for the online event

Virtual events are not only helping us feel connected through this pandemic, they’re creating relevance for audiences far beyond the boundaries of in-person events and giving creators of all types an avenue for additional – or continued – revenue. The Eventbrite survey results also showed that attendees are crossing digital geographical borders:

To help creators navigate this pandemic and connect with new audiences, Eventbrite is introducing new and deeper product partnerships to help optimise the online event experience.

Eventbrite has announced a partnership with Vimeo to bring the reliability and quality of Vimeo’s livestream and on-demand capabilities to Eventbrite, helping creators deliver more seamless and engaging online experiences. Through the partnership, Eventbrite creators will have access to an exclusive discount on Vimeo Premium pricing and interactive features, like Vimeo’s chat, polling and Q&A capabilities.

Vimeo Business Development SVP, Richard Bloom notes “virtual events have become an essential and enriching component to our new daily lives. We’re thrilled to partner with a leading experience platform like Eventbrite and to offer Vimeo’s best-in-class live streaming technology and interactive features to event creators around the world.”

Eventbrite has also announced a new Zoom app in their Eventbrite App Marketplace, a place for creators to find and leverage apps that help them save time and run their events more efficiently, with the new Zoom app being no different. With the Zoom app for Eventbrite, creators can easily create new or connect existing Zoom Meetings or Webinars to their events on Eventbrite. Once attendees register for an event, they will be automatically added as registrants to Zoom, reducing the number of steps required by both creators and attendees.

Eventbrite Co-Founder, Renaud Visage adds “Eventbrite’s mission – to bring the world together through live experiences – has been reaffirmed through COVID-19 and our focus remains on supporting our creators as they adapt to this new normal.”

“Through these integrations, creators can more easily set up and host their online experiences, and deliver a truly memorable and streamlined experience to their attendees.”
