New commercial sales director appointed to fuel Wattbike global growth
October 31, 2024

Wattbike, the creator of performance-focused indoor bikes used by elite athletes and fitness enthusiasts worldwide, has appointed Sam Theyers as its new Commercial Sales Director.

This key hire marks a strategic step as Wattbike seeks to expand its global footprint in leading health clubs across key international markets, including APAC, the Middle East, the USA, and Europe.

With over 25 years of experience working with industry giants such as Life Fitness, Fitness First, Ezdihar Sports, and LA Fitness, Theyers brings a deep understanding of the fitness sector and a wealth of international connections. His extensive expertise in managing major international accounts and fostering strategic partnerships positions him perfectly to spearhead Wattbike’s commercial growth.

Theyers advised “I’ve been a passionate supporter of Wattbike for over a decade. It’s the go-to choice for elite athletes and professional sports teams worldwide, unmatched in its precision and performance. While Wattbike has achieved remarkable success across professional sports globally, and in both professional sports and health clubs in the UK, there is still significant untapped potential in the global health club sector.

“I’m excited to join the team at this pivotal moment and help expand our presence worldwide, unlocking new opportunities and driving growth across international markets.”

Wattbike’s commercial business has long been the backbone of its success, supporting diverse sectors including elite sport, military, healthcare, education, and fitness clubs. With over 3,000 health clubs and studios in the UK already using Wattbikes, the company now aims to replicate this success across new international markets.

The timing is ideal, as Wattbike prepares to introduce further product innovations to the commercial market over the next six months, following the launch of its broader consumer range in September which included the Wattbike Proton and Wattbike Air.

These launches signal the company’s vision for growth and innovation. The team are dedicated to making Wattbike the ultimate training partner for improving health and performance, and by investing in new technology and expanding their product line, they are positioning the brand for continued success by expanding its appeal to a broader range of fitness enthusiasts.

Stephen Loftus, Chief Executive of Wattbike enthused “we are excited to welcome Sam to the Wattbike team as the leader of our experienced Commercial Sales division. As we focus on expanding our international footprint, particularly within leading health clubs, Sam’s wealth of experience with leading fitness brands globally will be instrumental in forging the long-term partnerships that will fuel our global growth.

“We’re confident that with Sam’s leadership, we can replicate the strong, long-term partnerships we’ve built in the UK and drive our international growth to new heights. This appointment reinforces Wattbike's commitment to becoming a truly global brand, with international gym penetration forming a key foundation for our global expansion strategy and long-term success.”

Wattbike has become a trusted training partner for a wide range of sport stars and elite sports teams around the world – including Olympic teams, all of the Premier League football teams, Premiership rugby teams and England Rugby, NFL and NBA teams, and 11 Boxing World Champions.

Wattbikes are also trusted by leading fitness and health professionals around the world and are available in over 3,500 gyms and health clubs globally, including Virgin Active, David Lloyd, Third Space, Everyone Active, Jetts, and Anytime Fitness. Wattbike is also the training and fitness testing bike of choice for The British Army, The US Navy Seals, Nuffield Health, Bupa, and countless universities and sport science institutions.

Wattbike is preparing to introduce further B2B product innovations over the next six months, following the successful launch of its broader consumer range in September with the Wattbike Proton and Wattbike Air.
