Developer Miral has advised that the construction of SeaWorld Abu Dhabi is 90% complete and will open in 2023.

Set to be the first SeaWorld location outside of North America, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will be latest addition to Yas Island’s attractions, which include Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi and Clymb Abu Dhabi.

With building work set to finish in the coming months, the 183,000 metre² attraction’s themed visitor environments, habitats, rides and attractions are in the final stages of construction.

The marine-life theme park complex will also include the UAE’s first dedicated marine research, rescue, rehabilitation and return centre, supporting regional conservation projects and with a focus on indigenous ecosystems in the Arabian Gulf.

Immersive experiences and interactive exhibits within SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will include the ‘One Ocean’ realm linking six marine environments enabling guests to enjoy a 360-degree media experience.

To be managed by Farah Experiences, the attraction’s marine residents will live in environments that replicate their natural habitats. The park will contain more than 58 million litres of water.

It will be home to more than 150 species of marine animals, including sharks, manta rays, sea turtles, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. It will also house hundreds of birds, including penguins, puffins and flamingos.

Advising that the attraction will “help position Abu Dhabi as a global tourism hub and contribute to its economic growth and diversification vision”.

Marc Swanson, Chief Executive of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, described it as an “extraordinary SeaWorld experience for guests with our first marine life theme park in over 30 years.”

Scott Ross, chairman of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, said the company will “extend our global conservation network and mission to protect marine animals and their habitats in the sea and gulfs surrounding the UAE.

“We look forward to celebrating the UAE’s history and deep-rooted connection to the ocean through the many incredible and immersive experiences at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi.”
