Hong Kong Rugby Union and Tixserve agree digital ticketing partnership
Hong Kong Rugby Union (HKRU) and leading digital ticket delivery solution, Tixserve, have today confirmed the signing of a partnership that will see digital ticketing being used for all HKRU-managed events.
The announcement coincides with the rollout of the Tixserve digital ticket fulfilment solution for this weekend’s Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens, running from 4th to 6th November.
With the flagship event of World Rugby’s Sevens calendar being staged for the first time since 2019, the partnership with Tixserve will enable the HKRU to know all ticket holders attending their fixtures and be aware of their compliance with local COVID-19 regulations.
The Tixserve-powered HKRU ticketing app will be used by both local and international fans, to receive their three-day digital passes after purchasing them through HKRU’s ticket-selling platform, TicketFlap.
This will streamline ticket delivery for both fans and HKRU, and will eliminate their traditional fulfilment costs associated with printing, packaging and distributing tickets.
Fans will then use the digital ticketing app to enter the 40,000-capacity Hong Kong Stadium with information provided on the digital tickets guiding fans through the venue, while in-app accommodation booking services will also be available for fans to book their stay.
HKRU will also now have direct in-app connectivity to fans for key operational messages, real-time content, and event marketing to amplify fan engagement.
Welcomes the upgrade from traditional paper tickets, Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens Tournament Director, Aaron Stockdale stated “we are thrilled to be partnering with Tixserve to help us deliver a much more seamless and sustainable digital ticketing solution for our fans, partners, and sponsors.”
Tixserve’s Managing Director, Patrick J Kirby added “the increased agility a digital platform offers us is very important to the HKRU, as we are always looking to improve customer experience at our signature sporting events.
“Following on from our recently announced multi-year partnership with Scottish Rugby, Tixserve is delighted to respond to the digital ticketing requirements of Hong Kong Rugby Union and its major 7s sponsors, Cathay Pacific and HSBC.
“The partnership with Hong Kong Rugby Union is a significant step for Tixserve towards opening up further new business opportunities in Asia and we are already in discussions with potential clients in that region.”
