January 19, 2022

World football governing body FIFA has today launched the ticket application phase for its 2022 World Cup competition in Qatar.

With the tournament a little over 10 months away, ticket prices for games go as high as $1,600 for the Final and include a range of prices and packages to attract local and global fans, including a special fourth category that allows local residents to secure tickets for as little as QAR 40 (US$11).

Tickets are available for individual and specific matches, from the opening game through to the final; as team-specific ticket series for those who want to watch a certain team on every step of their journey in Qatar, starting with the three group matches; and four-stadium ticket series which provides fans with the opportunity to sample the atmosphere across four different matches and iconic stadiums on subsequent days.

In addition, there is also an accessible ticket category.

During an initial sales period which ends on 8th February, fans are able to submit their ticket applications with successful, partially successful and unsuccessful applicants to be notified by 8th March.

Announcing the ticket application process, FIFA Secretary General, Fatma Samoura explained “this is a FIFA World Cup for Qatar, the region and the world, and the products launched today reflect FIFA’s goal of bringing the beautiful game to as many fans globally as possible.

“It will be a festival of football that will see fans experience the rich culture and history of the region through the platform of football at top-class stadiums and we look forward to bringing people from different cultures together to live football at the FIFA World Cup.”
