Body Fit Training named Asia-Pacific Franchise of the Year at Singapore’s Fit Summit Conference
May 19, 2021

Body Fit Training has been named as the recipient of the 2020 Franchise of the Year award for the APAC region at the Fit Summit conference in Singapore overnight.

Voted on by a panel of 93 judges from across the industry, the win acknowledged how Body Fit Training managed to achieve significant growth during 2020 despite national lockdowns.

Last year saw Body Fit Training launch 36 studios, membership grow from 6,700 at the end of 2019 to 16,551 at the end of 2020 and revenue rise to $15 million.

The fastest growing fitness community in Australia, Body Fit Training is quickly expanding into global fitness markets with studios in Singapore, New Zealand and the USA.

Using science and technology to drive positive outcomes for people at all fitness levels with 50- minute sessions programmed to help reduce fat and create lean muscle the group is on target to reach 200 studios to be in Australia by the end of 2021

Body Fit Training is popular with the Australian professional athlete community, with several key athletes owning franchises. Programs are designed by joint Chief Executive Cameron Falloon who previously had an extensive career as a strength and conditioning coach for high profile AFL and football teams. He was also the personal trainer for Princess Diana.

The business’ other joint Chief Executive, Richard Burnet, has also worked with AFL clubs Essendon and GWS Giants.

Among franchises owned by current or former elite sport stars, Essendon FC’s Zach Merrett owns three studios; Mitch Aubusson from Sydney Roosters owns BFT Ballina and Tim Paine, current Australian cricket captain, has secured the Tasmanian franchise rights to Body Fit Training with former cricketer George Bailey and AFL player Nick Riewoldt.

Explaining his interest in the franchise, Riewoldt advised “as professional athletes, we have access to the best training methods out there.

“What we see and love about BFT is that those same elite programming methods are now accessible to anyone at any fitness level. The combination of cardio workouts, strength and conditioning elements, along with the progressive programming, is something we haven’t seen anywhere else.”

Body Fit Training’s ongoing growth has seen membership numbers at least double each year with expected member numbers expected to reach 40,000 by end of 2021.

The FIT Summit fitness and wellness Awards of Excellence recognise top-performing companies and executives from across Asia-Pacific’s fitness and wellness industry.

This year's awards feature a number of operators and professionals who have excelled throughout the pandemic, against the most challenging environment ever encountered.

Snap Fitness came in second and F45 Training came third in the Franchise of the Year award category.
